Have you ever done something so insignificant, yet you feel so good? I did that today and, damn do I feel good about it!

My group at work has, for the last few years, exchanged gifts at the office during the holidays. We spend $25 per person and try to act surprised or appreciative, when in reality we think to ourselves-what a waste of money! What i'm I going to do with a "plastic geezer" that blows bubbles out of his ass and $20 worth of bubbles!

I convinced our group today to pool our money and donate it to a charity. Then I challenged our boss to match us 50 cents on the dollar toward the goal. Then I challendged our boss's boss to match that 50 cents on the dollar amount we raised! So far, 100% participation! Tomorrow, I'm going to send out a divisional e-mail challenging the other groups in our division to equal or exceed what we've done.

I hope I haven't bored you with this story. Hopefully, I've helped a couple of kids at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, which is where our money is going this year. My goal is to raise at least 10 grand by the end of the season. Wish me luck, guys! If I can put a smile on at least one of those little one's faces, then I'm a happy camper!

Surely not insignificant at all. I'm proud of you Ken. Keep it up.

What a great idea--that really signifies the spirit that seem to have gotten lost in many places. As Nate says "Good on ya!"

This year we told our 4 kids we are buying gifts for the 7 grandkids and 2 great grandkids ( no toys--mostly clothes). We are giving a small family type gift to the kids and their spouses. We have adopted a neighborhood family that has had some bad luck, and we are spending mostly for them. We told the kids absolutely no gifts for us, but you can bring us a big bag of grocerys for our neighbors.
Hope they have common sense enough to listen.

Thanks! It's good to hear about people who remember what this season is all about!

I agree, good move!!! I'm also a supporter of St. Jude. Nothing better than helping sick kids with no money!!!
