having trouble installing stainless trim on my 49 chevy pu...got it on but has gap between rubber and trim closest to glass..around edge of cab sits flush against rubber...is that normal...doesnt look like it can go in any more...is it because it is a after market trim?

Did you follow the correct sequence ?

Glass into rubber grommet , trim into rubber grommet , assembled glass trim & grommet into truck using plastic clothesline wire.....

Attempting to install the trims into the grommet after the glass & grommet is in the truck will result in the trims standing proud a little bit , they'll _NEVER_ go in and you'll eventually bend them trying to force them into place .
