Well after almost 4 years, I sold my 66 c-10. A guy who has wanted to buy it for almost as long as I have had it, finally made me a deal, I couldn't pass up. I miss her, but she went to a good home, and I know she is in good hands.

On another note, I picked up a 1984 Shortbox 4x4. It needs a little carb work, but other than that, she is rust/dent/ding free, and is as straight as an arrow. I was a big fan of "The Fall Guy", and plan on going with a theme similar to that. However, I have already named her the "Korean Krusher", I am half Korean. You don't see many Asian guys hauling around in old chevy pick ups, but all I can say is my Dad taught me right. I'll have to get pics up when I get it cleaned up.

So, I sold my pride and hardwork and I'll miss her, but I have another project to put my money into.

BTW-Does anyone know if I can change my user name, or if I should just get a new name
    Kevin

Ahh the joys of breaking things

Ok, on a whim this morning my wife's cousin and I went and slung some mud in a field about 5 miles from my house. Everything was going fine....Until during one of the passes, I heard a loud "pop" from my front end. I was able to get it to higher/more solid ground and got out to take a look, but what I noticed was that my steering wheel was about 90 degrees off. Thinking it was something with the steering box we did some test turns of the wheel and could hear and feel some poping in wheel but didn't notice anything that that worried us too bad

Upon getting it on the road, I still noticed the steering wheel was off, but took it easy. On the way there were two semi-large/sharp turns, I could feel the poping but also felt like the wheels was slipping and drifting, and at one point the steering wheel went about 180 degrees off I was very careful and was able to make it back without any major danger.

Now my question is, does anyone know what this could be. I have driven the truck for the past couple months, just about every weekend, and even on some 80+ mile trips, without a problem. My first thought is it's the ball joints, but not real confident.

    Any imput would be helpful.

3" lift- Blocks Front and Rear (which I know is part of my problem, but it's the way I bought it)

Get the front end up on jackstands & check for play at wheels and steering. Could be the idler at the drag link. Should be able to see if ball joint broken (tire would lean badly). Could even be a joint in itermediate shaft from steering column to steering gear. I used to race in some baja's around here and it always amazed me what a guy can tear up and still be grinnin' like a pig in sh**. Merry christmas....

Might also want to check the frame by the steering box for cracks, pretty common problem.

If every thing check out good with the first post I would tend to think that the second post would be the one that might be hard to see. If your going to pay a little hard then you might want to buy a frame plate help with the place or make up one. If they get rusty or your makeing hard tight turns they take a lot of stress there in the GM 73-87 more on the 4X4 then the 4x2's .
