I'm trying to remove the inside door handles on a 1958 GMC cab. They have allen heads and I have tried every rust buster known to man. Have stripped several heads, plus the frustration of just trying to get to the allen screws -- no room for tools between the door handle and door panel. Any hints from anyone?? I'm ready to take out the SawZ All.
Get out the drill - Buy New Handles My 2-cents worth..... drill 'em out! You may need to buy a LONG drill bit for some flexibility Then try some serious heat to the handle do some tapping while hot then use a large mouth vise grip grab the round part of the handle and pull straight back! Then buy some new handles. 55-59 TruckNut
How bizarre, My '59 has clutch head screws holding the inside door handle assembly in place. There is a bar that covers one screw so you are in a sort of catch-22 in trying to remove it. The assembly is under the door panel, but with that removed, the screw heads are easy (relatively) access. Can you send a picture of it to me? Chris
