finally got everything put back together last night and i took it for a drive. wow! it's getting better and better every time i work on it. i guess that's good! sure was fun cruising. and no leaks so far! jon
oil pan gasket Did you ever find the right gasket. I have the same problem and have not found a source or pn for the right gasket.
Oil pan gasket dorcutt, I just bought an oil pan gasket from CP for my 216, and it was a perfect fit.
The pictures that Jon has here are identical to my oil pan, and the gaskets I got from CP don't work. Is it possible that I have a 261 engine. The block number buy the fuel pump is 3738307. Would really like to get the right gasket for the oil pan.
the ordering is a bit tricky if you do it over the "intra-web". i suggest calling them on the phone and talking to a real person. they should be able to line you out. jon
So , You're In Luck ! As you have the later , full pressure oiling engine , now that you know , order up parts using 1962 Chevrolet C-10 truck or 1962 Chevrolet sedan 6 cylinder and you'll be good to go . I assume your rockerbox has _four_ screws holding it on ? . Chevy Duty sells a nifty American Made kit of the correct . " Just So " Stovebolt screws and spreaders in case you have hexoganal fasteners on there now.... Cheap too ! . -Nate
Casting number? Jon, I'm not any kind of expert with these engines but it looks to me like you have a full pumper like most of the others have said (wrong gaskets) The casting numbers look like you got them from the cylinder head instead of the block. This particular head was used from 54-62 on the 235s and 261s. Rick
Thanks all for the help. With your assistance and help from CP I believe I have the right pn for the correct gasket. The trick is to look in there catologe for the next series up which makes sence since we know it isn't an original engine.
