    whats the between a 49 chevy and a 50 gmc? im just concerned with the front ( hood, grill ). the only difference i see is the hoods ( where the gmc / chevy emblem are). and the gmc has the extra body piece around the grill. am i right? my 50 gmc is a 3 window but i found a 49 chevy 5 window with a great cab and front fenders.

    What do you plan to do? Use the 49 chevy parts to build your 50 gmc or vice versa? The hoods are definitely not interchangable. Cab? yes, subject to mounting point mods. Doors? yes. Front fenders? sorta.

    5 window

    i was thinking of using the 5 window cab to build my gmc, but i guess when i get down to it, which ever has the best parts is the one i will build to keep, and the other i will sell

    Now we've got a starting point!

    As far as the front fenders are concerned, I know that the gmc's had parking lights in the fenders, whereas Chevy's did not. If it would help, I can post some pics of a '50 chevy front fender for you to compare with to see if holes line up, curves are correct, etc. Just let me know. I just love to brag on my workmanship;)

    Well ;

    If you're going to use the GMC engine , it's a bit longer (due to the TWO extra main bearings) so the core support is different as it holds the radiator 3" or so further forward , the upper & lower baffles are different too so hang on to those parts untill you're 100 % finished and driving it before you sell those unobtanium parts...

    You should be able to assemble the Chevy nose & hood onto the GMC by using the GMC core support & baffles . this is the better way to make room for your 235 Chevy engine too but the GMC parts are hard to come by .

    Nate beat me to it by the time I got registered. The cabs will interchange but as he said to
    You have to run the core support that matches the front crossmember. I have a bare GMC frame and the front crossmember is quite a bit different than the one on my 48 Chev.
