Hello everyone. I have a 65 stepside with a 230 I-6, and a 3 speed on the column. I had a 383 stroker and a turbo 350 professionally built for another project that is just not going very well. So, I decided I would like to drop these in my 65 stepside instead. Here are a few questions that hopefully, someone can help me with: 1) I understand that the V8 will bolt right in with the existing frame mounts from the 230. Is this correct? 2) Will the 230 motor mounts work on the V8? 3) What do I need to do as far as a crossmember to install the auto trans? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.
There are a few things on this page that will be of intrest to you. http://www.persh.org/pickup/IdeaPage.htm General Motor Mount Information & the stuff Van has on transmissions. A good aftermarket trans crossmember can be had from a number of vendors. If you plan on lowering the truck, look for one that allows the exhaust to be tucked up over the trans crossmember. Val
Val, Thanks for the info. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I will do that later this evening. Mark
