I have been trying everywhere to match the paint on my 66 C10 dash. It has never been repainted and has been in our family since new. The paint charts all show a fawn...but a restoration pack from GM stated in 66 they used a dark fawn. I found a color code from 66 cars that states dark fawn, but no dealer has been able to match it yet. Have any of you experienced this and found a match?

By the way, I have used the Autocolorlibrary....they do not show it, although after several conversations, they at least admit there was a darker fawn. I'm hoping they will send me a color sample.

Take the ashtray or glove box door off and take it to an auto paint supplier. Have them color match it.

That is the problem...I have already taken both to two different PPG stores who could care less about matching the color on an old truck. They gave it a shot(very weak one) and missed badly both times.

I did find somebody who has a beauty of a 65 Bel Air that has the correct color top and bottom of his dash, that would be correct. He is uncertain of the name or number. There are only a few possibilities listed on the chart for 65 Chevy cars....what the heck, I have already paid over $25 twice for two half points of the wrong color.:(
