    Yabutt ;

    Does it RUN ? .

    Have _you_ personally checked the passenger side cab mount and then crawled underneath it to look at rust ? .

    Checked the rear of _both_ front fenderwells where the cab meets and around the parking brake hole for small rust cracks ? .

    These are all _very_ important things to check , before paying over $500.00 for it as making the engine run is the easiest thing you can do to this old truck .

    NOT trying to pi$$ on your parade but a truck can look O.K. and even drive around but be less than useless at the same time , look at some of the pictures of projects , they look O.K. from 10" but then you see the pix of the holes that appear after a decent cleaning .

    If it's solid , GO for it ! .

    Don't expect to see any AD or earlier truck without rust outs in the 4 cab corners and front of rear fenders (except in some desert climate). I would be more interested in rust around the windshield and other areas where patch panels are not carried by vendors. Now if there is significant rust all over in many areas you might. A good rule of thumb is 5 minutes for every square inch of rust to restore

    Rust-Rust-Rust!!!

    I agree with Nate and 3600...I didn't do this before I bought mine and believe me, there is rust in areas I thought looked good before. $1000 seems about average but check the areas mentioned and try to get a better price. I'm still happy with my purchase but I've got far more work to do than anticipated and probably could have negotiated a better price. Mine had been sitting so long the rear drums had rust buildup against the brake pads. After the guy delivered it, part of the deal, I had to figure out why the wheel wouldn't turn. It could have been much worse than rust! Notice the plate someone had welded in behind the seat...I didn't look there!
