I have a 1960 GMC pickup with the 305 V6 with a 3 on the tree. I have a parts truck thats somewhere between '64 and '66 with a 5-speed tranny in it that I'm considering putting in my truck. Would this be a lot of trouble to do? Would it help out on performance enough to make it worth it?

Thanks Drabo, so is the transmission in my parts truck a 700R or similar to it? Sorry, I'm young and trying to learn.
I'm not sure about that. Here is a general guide on common automatic tranny's. 2 speed is a powerglide, these are not the best on the highway but are bullet proof. 3 speed's are either TH350 or TH400 they are good on the highway and are pretty tough. 4 speed's are 700R4 and 4L60E are great on the highway but generally can't handle over 400 HP. These arn't all the transmissions out there but these are very common. I installed a 700R4 mainly for the MPG.
