I have a 62 with a 235 six and a 3 on the tree. I'm hopein for a compatable automatic out there aside from an original cuz their hard to find or if I do locate one it's trashed or half way across the world any help would be much appreciated thanks, Tony
You will need to go with a later model 6 cyl. The bellhousings are different. I may be wrong, but I don't think they even offered an auto with a 6 in '62.

Thank You Drabo though things have changed I recently bought a 327 so now I'm going to install a th350, do you know if I need the short tail or long type tranny thanks again for your help
the 350 turbo transmission are tuff transmissions thats what I have in my 66 behind my new 283. short tail 350th and I love the short tail 350th and they are getting hard to find in the scap yards, short or long tall 350th will work in your swap its the one you want most to go with.
Thanks for that link Drabo............ No offense to anyone..........but I did not even consider that a company would take the time to offer a conversion for those old sixes. Until this CP forum, did not know that so many guys 'like' the sixes. I took mine out for the added towing capacity of a healthy V8 and the almost double the fuel mileage too. My six had only 80k miles on it with rebuilt 1bbl carb and I could not believe how fast it sucked fuel if you went any faster than 45mph. Plus I wanted the great sound of flowmaster cans...............
sixty two, you can go with either length of th350, you will need to have the driveline resized to the appropriate lenght thou.
