I removed the windshield glass and seal to find both left and right lower corners rusted out. About 3 inches up the A post and 3 inches across. The picture is looking from the left fender into the windshield. Does anyone sell a patch panel for this or does someone have a donor cab to cut some out of?

    yep! Mine too!

Read my post "Rust at the Windshield". There's a link ther the guys here lead me to. The guy did a great job. I haven't got to mine yet. No patch panels that I've heard of.

I have a 54 3/4 ton that I could cut up. Would have to take out windshield to see condition first. What is your location?

    In up to my neck

I read the thread "rust at my windshield" and now know I am not alone. Thanks for the link. I don't have a shrinker/stretcher but this will be my excuse to buy one.

Why not make a patch panel ??

I had this problem and what I did was cut out the rusted areas with a die grinder/cutoff wheel.

I then made some cardboard templates to get a good fit for the L shaped piece that is parallel to the winshield.....

Once I got a good fit with the cardboard I then traced it onto some 18 gage sheet metal and rough cut it out with the die grinder and fine tuned it in with my 1 1/2 angle sander......leaving the metal about 3/8" big on both sides so that you have something to work with so you can use a body hammer and a dolly(or something round such as a big socket)to "work" the needed return onto it and then grind the return down to 1/4" or so to match the contour.

then it was a matter of cutting a strip of about 3/8 of a inch wide of the same sheet metal and hand bend it to fit the radius of the corner.

Tack weld it together and make sure it fits then finish stitch welding it.

Theres no need in my opinion to buy a shrinker/stretcher.....it won't give you crisp enough corners.

Im no professional by all means at this stuff but I get the job done with what I got.

    Hopefully I was a help,

    good luck

    Leon
