    Went down to the clean shop to modify some 9 inch ford axles to a 6 lug chevy pickup pattern and saw the boys have their summer toy almost ready. Each engine uses 6 gallons to pull 300 feet so that figures out to 422 gallons per mile. Should plow the south 40 in record time though.

    Gee Nate, I thought a farm boy like you would recognize a run of the mill 10,000 hp tractor. It is built for the Outlaw Class and has a place on the gear case for a fifth engine which it will probably need if the Arfons girl has her turbine engine tractor entered. She is T_O_U_G_H to beat.

    I used to be a faithful follower on the "tractor pull" circuit. The hottest tractor I ever saw in the 70's was a Ford 9N with a 427 Chevy fully blown mill. Or was it the Allis Chambers supercharged modified? No wait, it was the Minneopolis Moline at the Calloway Co. fairgrounds in '74! Those were the days. That's real lead sledding! Thanks for the memories, Evan!

    Evan ;

    I meant a real New England Diary Farmer (Milking Shorthorns) , we had two tractors , a 1935 John Deere Model A and a 1937 John Deere Model B , we had but one 6 volt battery between the two tractors and had to hand start 'em most of the time .

    We didn't have ANYTHING with a V-8 as those were :

    A too new to be affordable and

    B. gas hogs.... :rolleyes:

    A tractor pull was when some one came down to use with a chain to help us get it started in January ~ :p

    Even our hay bauiler was from 193? and had a long obsolete hand cranked V- twin engine on it... tied the bales with string , not wire like nowadays .

    I never saw one of those rigs there un til the late 1970's and i was in Califorrnia by then , shoveling cow poop but a memory :D

    Pretty cool though ! .

    Looks like fun!!!!
    Those Hemi's ain't running $3.60 pump gas though. The turbines are fun to watch, but nothing shakes a stadium like 4 or 5 blown big blocks with no exhaust. And the smell......mmmmmmm. Brings back a lot of memories....Mike
