    hard in Germany?

    Hi Glenn,

    no it isn't. Only the freight costs and the tax in Germany are expensive (i have to pay 25% tax of all imported parts, grrrr) but if i want to restore a special car it's equal which car. The positiv thing is the strong Euro. I can buy all parts in the US and if i can't find something i ask here and get good information or an adress.

    Thanks

    crank unit

    Thanks for the contact to Bob Adler. He rebuild a crank unit and will send to me. Now i have to order a windshield frame and start the restoration of interior. I believe it will need a little bit time before finish. Bob wrote to me your gasoline price is very high? $3,49 / gallon. Think about the german price then your price is very cheap.
    We have to pay approx $7,25 / gallon

    Volker ;

    I also drive old Mercedes Diesel cars and Diesel is $4.39 / Gal. here now...

    I'm beginning to think about dragging one of my old VW Kafers out of the backyard and driving it instead..... 36 MPG's is beginning to sound really good to me .

    new pics fom my interior

    Interior is finish, chroming the windshield frame in progress. Finish in July was a dream but now i think i can drive on the streets end of august
    Thanks to Bob Adler, the rebuilded windshield crank unit was perfect.

    After my first ride i need your experience.;) Have anyone change engine, tranny and rear axle in a 1/2 ton from 1946. I need all information which parts fits together and could you help me to looking for and buy these parts in the US?. I believe Germany is the wrong place to looking for these parts. Important: No front clip.
    My idea is a small 8cylinder with a 4 speed tranny and open shaft to rear axle for a better ride and more speed.
