I have been thinging about independent suspension and front disc brakes for my 56. I know that Camaro front clips are a common choice for 55-59 pickups, but I may have a chance to buy a front clip from a 1977 Pontiac TransAm.

Is the Pontiac clip the same as Camaro? Anybody have any experience or thoughts?

    Thanks

The Firebird and Camaro are the same frame. Just never mentioned by anyone.

Just throwing out another suggestion, you may want to look at a Mustang 2- some like it some don't.

I have been continuing to look at alternatives for front suspension, and am coming to the conclusion that the Mustang 2 might be the best overall choice. It appears to be the easiest to install with least modification to original frame. Is there a technical paper somewhere that would provide more information on installation and what changes to other components (like steering box, etc)are required? What are the reasons that some might not like the Mustang 2?

    Many thanks
