Hi folks, I just bought a pair of original style mirrors from Classic Parts and don't know the exact location to drill the holes. Needless to say I only have one chance to do it right. There was a accessories manual online that disapeared. Any help would be appreciated.

    Willard,
If you will look under the dash you will find that the steel is double thickness where the mirrors go and that the inner layer already has the holes cut out. I put masking tape on the outside to keep from marring the surface, went inside and drilled a hole from the inside out through the middle of the hole in the inside layer of metal. Then I went outside and used that hole for the pilot to drill from the outside in with the proper size bit. With the masking tape in place I mounted both mirrors without a blemish.

    Ken, thanks for the picture.

FYI - my '48 has no such prep. I thought maybe I wasn't looking in the right place, but after removing the glove bax and reviewing you picture, it just ain't there...Larry

    No Guide Holes

    Wow , that's wierd .,

Next step is to buy the acessories manual , they should be in there .

Or , go to some shows and take tape measure and paper & pencil , measure and make up some templates off other old trucks there .

There should be guide holes on the inner panel on both sides .

They are about the same place as the one on the driver's side holes in the cowl. Hold them up and you can see where they fit properly.

My 55 had nothing inside the cab to help either - as you say Larry, just ain't there.

In the end I measured up exactly where the holes were on the driver side and put new ones through same place on the passenger side. The mirrors line up perfectly - and I'm driving on the left so I need that one over on the right.
