Megan, the 9 year old, has a pretty severe case of Cerebral Palsy. She has a new "hot rod" and wanted to race with one of the show's organizers. I took this picture at the "starting line" and before the camera could store it and get ready again the race was over. A pair of brothers about my age (61) have restored a "race car" that their Dad built for them in 1952. They were nice enough to offer Megan a "ride". This thing is immaculate. The family atmosphere at this show is great. Anyone in the Houston area should drop in. Not many trucks there tonight, but two cars really caught my eye. I think the duece coupe might be a prototype for a Highway Patrol car. The '40 Willis has a blown early Hemi and an automatic trans. Look closely and you will notice that they both have air conditioning. Necessary in coastal Texas.
Too cool, Bill! Friday night was a "Thank God MAP is over" party night. I spent a bunch of it talking to a fellow teacher who was so bad off with CP that the doctor told her parents that she would never be able to do anything with her life. Thank God her folks didn't believe that for a minute. She walks on her own and has won many awards for teaching excellence. The smile is very similar. Thanks for posting the pictures, Bill. What a winner!
Hey Bill! Tell me that Megan beat that old fart! He's grumpier than me! She's a special young lady and brings a smile to my face every time I see her. And she sure does love her grandpa!
Bill, What a lovely young lady! There is a special bond between granddaughters and grandpas, isn't there? Just remember to keep taking pictures of her-- she will be all grown up in what seems like a couple of days!
