I paid $500.00 for both of these. Here are a few pics. More pics will follow as I get "My build On!"
I found these about 200 yards in the woods near my house. I had just bought some land with a trailor and the guy behind me had a 49 chevy sittin next to the barb wire fence. So one day I walked over to ask him if he would be willing to sell it. Fortunately he said, No! Then a couple of days later a neighbor of mine told me about two old trucks that were the same year "down thar" in the woods. So I hopped over the fence through the briars and hitchhikers and struck gold! As you can see! I carefully and proudly dragged them both home. My old lady wasnt too happy, but I thought, screw her! I paid the tow truck driver $75 to pull both of them and he then told me that he has a bunch of these trucks setting out at his place! I thought "Oh Really!" The bad part is he wont part them out. Stay tuned for more pics of my build later this summer.

These trucks have been sitting for over 40 years with all the glass busted out and some bullet holes in the doors. So it was obvious that the floors were completly rusted out. The body was in almost perfect condition but there were some small dents where it looked as if someone had walked on the roof and hood. The chevy had been sitting on and old oil drum and all the tires were dry rot to the point that they fell apart as they were being moved.

    Rest-Mod Rod. No rats here!

No! I plan to restore it to almost original condition. You might say a "Resto-mod Rod!" I will be posting pics as I build it. It may some time as I work nights and what I can accomplish on my weekends. So stay tuned!

I will be ordering the body parts for the cab in the next few weeks. Ill post pics of that too. Dont expect the pics to follow build-up then go to paint very soon. I am building my truck in my front yard and I am having to save money from week to week just to make this happen. So I am on a budget.

My Plans: I am gonna shave the dash getting rid of the glovebox, ashtray hole and speaker hole and rebuilding the lower portion of the dash. Then making a chevy symbol out of 1/4 inch plate metal and welding it to the dash to create a custom looking dash.

The hood is being slightly modified by welding the metal center molding strip to the hood. The front original symbol will be removed and there will be a chevy symbol welded to the sides of the hood near the hinge area. (or) I might decide to attach the symbols by bolts.

The cab will be almost completey replaced meaning new cab corners, deluxe outer cowl panels, kick panels, inner cowl panels, rocker panels, and front door pillars and rear door pillars. The rear cab window needs a few places to be repaired also. The same goes for the front windshield. Last but not least, I shaved the front vent window below the windshield and the passenger side vent.

So far thats all I had planned. Lots of work ahead of me!
