    Hi!
OK, so I'm trying to install a dome lamp assembly in my 1958 GMC fleet option pickup. This truck camp with a block off plate where the dome lamp should be and no wiring harness from the headlamp switch. Now, I can fabricate the wiring harness. My problem is that I can't snake the wires down the driver side windshield post (which, as the wiring diagram seems to indicate, is where it's supposed to go.) Using a piece of 10 guage wire as a snake and accessing the post from the hole for the driver's side sun visor, the wire only goes down about a foot; then it feels as though it's hitting something and will not continue it's downward progress. Anybody out there encounter this dilemma? Any suggestions will be appreciated. x(

I have rewired my Chevy truck and used the existing wire to pull the new circuit to the dome light area. I also at one time used a coat hanger or elections fish tape to do the same, it's hard but not impossible seam like the door jam or pillar is some support in the way, try feeding from top or bottom at door jam/pillar. It's also easer to do this with the headliner removed. I pulled an extra wire just incase I wanted a third break light in the future. Don’t get frustrated, have a coffee or beer and enjoy your truck.

Just ran my wiring last week. I had a similar problem, but patience got it through. I used a heavy gauge wire and threaded it from the visor hole down and then pulled the dome light wire up through the post. I was not able to thread it from the bottom...My headliner is out, so I just threaded it up through the visor hole and across the top and dropped it down into the dome light hole. I then pushed the wire around the edge, and down away from where the headliner will mount....

    Good Luck!!
