I have removed the old gas tank on my Apache from inside the cab and put a new aluminum tank out back where the spare tire would go. Now I have the hole in the cab corner where the old filler neck was. Does anyone know of a pre-fabricated piece of sheetmetal you can buy to weld into that hole or am I forced to fabricate one of my own? Thanks for any suggestions you have.

Thanks for the replies. I feared I would be fabricating and it looks like I am. I'll let you know how it comes out.

    Gas cap filleer

I found some on ebay a year ago or so. Bought one for a 67 and up and with very little work it fit my 57 GMC nicely. Guy told me they did have them for early models also.

Thanks for the idea about looking at 67 and up, "iretired". I'm definitely going to check that out. "gafcob" - thanks, the step was not hard, but it took alot of time and patience. First, we drilled holes in the door jam area and bolted a piece of angle iron in the doorway so the cab wouldn't flex. then we sanded the area where the spot welds were on all the pieces to be removed. we then drilled out the spot welds and removed the pieces. completed the welding in of the cab corners and did the step last to make sure it all lined up. we kept putting the door back on to make sure it was all lining up before we welded it in permanently. word of advice? measure carefully, mark your measurements on the cab and make sure everything is square. good luck!
