Situation: vent window latch is a little loose. The driver's side retaining pin fell out the other year and I replaced the pin and washer. I want to replace the passenger side retaining pin and washer before the pin falls out on it's own. Not enough of the pin out to get a grip w/ plyers to pull. Tryed to tap it out w/ a nail set. Pushed it out some, but unable to pull out w/ plyers. I think I might have pushed it back in. Question: Should I continue to tap it out from the bottom (side w/ the hole only)? Should I try tapping it all the way through from the side w/ the indentation? Should I try drilling out the center and hope the pin collapses in? Would heating the latch w/ a hairdryer warm it up enough for the pin to slide out? I know there are a lot of questions and "what if's". Any suggestions will be very helpful. If there are any CTer's in the Rockville, MD area, I will have my truck at the Rockville Show on Saturday, October 15 (weather permitting).
I just pushed my all the way through and out the other side. (I also used an appropriate sized nail and not a punch.)
I bought the right size punch at my local hardware store and drove the pin out in no time at all. Good Luck Steve
