    First of all let me say, Wow! Call me dense, but I haven't been here in a few years. Not since Chevy Duty switched to this name. I wasn't posting for a while, and when I came back, nothing. All the posts from my email were gone and the old forum was no more. It didn't dawn on me until just now to try the number in the catalog to see if they were still active. I'm on cloud nine. Nice to see ole Nate and the gang still typing away. Anyway. I was having some work done on my 48 Chevy, and the mechanic took his sweet time doing the job. In the mean while, my original engine, the original rear with the drive tube was stolen from his shop. I'm thinking of filing a receipt of delivery to recoup some of my loss, but putting a price on this stuff is a little difficult, as few people have these classic parts just lying around. So, what would be a reasonable expectation of reimbursement fro those items? I'm not looking to burn the guy, although I think his final tally was a little high, I know these restos can bleed money, and saving where you can when you can helps. I was planning on selling them in a trader magazine, show or swapping it for other items. I go to pick up my final items from them later this week so any estimates from a few of you pros will help me when I submit the offer. Also, I'll take advice as to whether it's worth going through the $40 filing fee only to get small potatoes back.
    Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

    Uh , Oh ~

    BAD news buddy (welcome home BTW) ;

    The Inline 6 banger engines and running gear is nearly worthless unless you have receipts proving you put $ into rebuilding it....

    Sorry to hear this but the tweakers who stole your stuff prolly still have it or havge unloaded it for scrap metal at the nearest scrapyard , maybe it's there waiting for you to buy it back....

    Sorry for your loss!! I paid $500 for a complete 1950 drive train about a year ago. That was front suspension, 235 inliner and a torque tube rear. The PO was converting to hot rod. Good luck with your recoup.

    Go over to stovebolt.com and list the items you lost. Guys over there are always wondering what to do with 216s, and rear ends.
