Hello Guys,(and better halfts) I replace my small window 59 cab with a decent large window 55 cab in very good condition, (2nd searies cab) and my question is the hood hinges, on a 59, the hinges the springs are connect to the inerter fenderwell and the hinged, on the 55 they self-contained?, not connected to the inter fenderwell? (is this a correct statement) Also the hinges are different from 55-57 to 58-59. My second question is when I switch cabs kipping my truck a 59 series should I have changed the hinges also? (59 hinges on a 56 cab?) My problem is at the cowl the hood is up about a ΒΌ inch. I can push it down from the outside once the hood is closed. I remember some early posting, of adding shims to some location to correct this. Thanks, Also on a personal note, my son comes home this month (September) from deployment over seas. God bless the U.S.
You will need to keep the stock spring configuration for the 59 cab, also the 58&59 stock gas pedals mount a little different than that of the 55 gas pedals 58-9'bolt to the floor and trans hump (For what its worth) if you plan on using the stock pedal assy.Dont know about using shims but have heard that new hood springs have more tension in them to pull the hood down into the correct position than the old worn and tired springs Good luck!Allen
