I am about ready to fire up my engine. It has been about 2 years since it has run. It is a 235 that was rebuilt about 15 years ago. I can turn the crank by hand if I remove the plugs.

What should I do prior to running?

Here are some concerns I have...
    1. I need to make sure I have oil pressure. I plan on cranking it a bit without the spark attached and seeing if I have pressure. Is that a good plan?
    2. Fuel pump. This is a fuel pump from a different 235 and it was a bit hard to get it attached. I am worried that it may not work. Is there a way to check it out before I try to run? I have not attached my new gas tank yet. I am planning to use an old lawn mower tank with a gravity feed for the first run.
    3. I rebuilt the carb, but since it has not been running, I have been unable to make the final adjustments.

Anything else I need to look out for?

Unhook the fuel pump line to the carb...Turn it over real quickly..just knock the key and see if the fuel is pumping out of the line to the carb..if it is..the fuel pump is good to go. Thats all I have..Dont want to steer you in the wron direction on the other 2 things..Mike G

for priming the the oil system all i did was a fresh oil change then bumped the starter with no fuel or spark and watched the oil pressure gagde its mecanical so unless it isnt connected it will work if ti twitches you have oil pressure then connec the spark and fuel then fire it up and let it idle if you really havent done anything to it for a while take the plugs out and spray a little bit of wd 40 in each cylinder and let it soak past the rings that will give you enough lube to start it and let the oil system do its job
