Maybe everyone knows this and I through I was finding out something for everyone. On 2nd sires trucks 55-59 the door hinges are interchangeable from left to right. The major difference is the top hinge has a spring. The bottom hinges are identical left too right driver side or passenger side. When the top hinge is installed on the driver side, the door hinge spring is on the bottom. The passenger side top hinge door spring is located then on the top. Just something I through I would share, so when buying hinges and you need left and only right driver side is advertised, you will know it doesn’t matter. If someone knows any different,:) please let me know.

Hi there Steve. Thanks for useful tip.

Door alignment is really one of the things which got worse compared to Advance design trucks. It appears to me that the door itself tends to be to weak to hold onto the hinges. I welded cracks behind the lower hinge attachment on the driver side door. Still adjustment is a challenge.

Any tips on improvments that makes the door assy more solid and alignment ok?

My Hinges 55 3/4..on the drivers side ...The Bolts were spinning and not tightening...I have limited funds..ect...The door would not close correctly..It was not flush with the cab when close. I Closed the door and hooked up a wench from the drivers door to the passenger door, till it was flush with the body...And welded the hinges were the bolts would not tighten down. Kinda Micky moused, but it flushed to the body, closes tight, and most times I use the passenger door to go in and out as to not put any extra were and tear on my welds. Its all i could think of doing for the time being...I exhausted all my options with all the help in the forum..And I think it was Bill who said ...looks like you gudda get the welder out...M/G

not nessisarily you can do waht im doing right now where are you having an issue the bolts in the cab or the door the if its the door cut a small access pannel out of it close to the hinge bolts and get a set of vice grips on the steel blocks then replace them with grade 8 nuts and tighten them with a wrench if its for the ones in the cab the only one that should be an issue is the lowest bolt on the bottom hindge remove the access pannel in the caband remove the others first then cut the head off the bottom one and the block will fall off in the back take it out then vacum all the dirt out (theres bound to be some) then run a grade 8 bolt and nut in the place but it will be hard to get the nut in the back make a wrench that bends in an s shape to get on it with the boxed end a whole lot easier then welding it
