Hello, I am working on a 1961 chevrolet truck. The truck had no floor covering when I bought it. I wondered if anyone could tell me if the carpets that are made for these trucks covers the entire floor area or just the area in front of the seat. I am refinishing the floor and am trying to determine how picky I have to be on metal finish under and behind the seat. Thank you for any help.
Welcome to the forum.Im pretty sure the carpet (stock way) only went to right to under front of the seat.dont think they put carpet behind seat.
No matter where the carpet ends, you should try and remove and treat all rust areas. NOW is the time to insulate the floor as well !! The factory carpet/rubber mat went to just under the front of the seat. Aftermarket carpets nor go all the way to the back of the cab unless they say otherwise. (read carefully before ordering) Val
Thanks for the information. The full carpet was what I preferred if it was avaliable. The floor is now rust free. I had to weld in two small patches and the welds are complete and ground smooth. They would require some additional finesse to make them ready for exposed finish paint, however are fine for an area that will be carpeted. Thanks again for the information.
Dont forget the hush mat or dyna mat under the carpet. its a beautifull thing. I looked on brothers truck web site . dont quote me but it looks like thier carpet covers the whole floor. U can always cut ur own to find under the seat?? Kilroy was here!!!
