I'M NEW TO MECHANICAL WORK SO IN LAMENS TERMS WHAT OPTIONS WOULD I HAVE ON PUTTING POWER STEERING ON MY MOSTLY STOCK 55 2ND SERIES PICKUP. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE SOME KNOWLEDGE.
power assist steering is easy to put on by yourself and works acceptably well. There is a cheaper way to go if you don't mid changing some stuff on your steering to adapt a modern steering arm, then add pulleys and brackets for steering pump.I believe both of these methods can retain the original steering collumn, but only the power assist kits let you keep the original steering box. This is what I did,and it works well, but one thing to consider is I'm not sure it is worth using the original box.(newer may be improvement?)
