    I've owned three chevy's all being 4wheel drive, a 1979 K5, 1986 C10 and a 1985 C10. What does the K and the C stand for?
    When I purchase parts for my latest (85, C10 as on the fender emblem) I'm told it's a K10 because it's a 4wheel drive.

K and V ('87-91) series are 4wd, C and R series are 2wd. Fullsize Blazers are called K5s but are actually titled as K10s (or C10 for the rare 2wd models). I'm not sure the letters mean anything and are just to designate 2wd from 4wd models in the VIN.

    C-10 is 2wd 1/2 ton, K-10 is 4x4 1/2 ton. C-20 is 3/4 ton 2wd, K-20 is 3/4 ton 4x4. Hope this helps.

Chevy continued using the C/K-10/20/30 until '86, then the old body style became the R/V series until they stopped producing them in '91. They didn't change the numbers to 1500/2500/3500 until '89 or so. I've only seen GMC's use the 15/25/35 and 1500/2500/3500 before then.
