I'm seriously considering chopping a 65 C-10 and am open to all advice. I know that due to the complexity of the C-Pillar and this is no easy task, but it looks so cool when completed and really takes it to the next level that I'm willing to try it. I've got a doner cab and door frame tops. Any suggestions? and better yet, any photos?

    Thanks!

    windshield

Make sure you have at least 5 windshields. You will break that many trying to cut them.
Door seals are always a problem on chopped vehicles. You will have to cut and glue a seal together to make it kind of fit.
If you notice the cab tapers together toward the top slightly, so the posts will not come straight down. That means you pull the bottoms of the posts in and pull the tops of the posts out --- then the windshield doesn't fit. OR you add a strip of metal going across and another from front to back of the roof --- then the inside metal cab roof is a mess AND the windshield doesn't fit... See the common problem --- the windshield doesn't fit.
YES it can be done, but not by the inexperienced. I have chopped street rods, but wouldn't consider one of these tops. It's too hard for me! The earlier (62 style) is harder yet due to windshield shape.

    Thanks for the feedback.

A neighbor down the road has chopped nearly a hundred cars, mostly from the 20's and 30's and he agreed only reluctantly to do mine for me, but cautioned that it could cost $5000 or more. He said that it would in the top 10 most difficult that he's done. Even harder than a 57 Nomad!

I love the way the C-10s look with a little lower profile, but I can't justify the expense for this truck. I've got her dropped and all the metal either replaced or repaired with very minimal bondo, so I think my money and effort will be in great paint and maybe a custom center console to house my AC and sound system. I haven't seen that done before so it'll be a little something different. I'll post photos as it comes together.

BTW, the above mentioned neighbor builds customs that start at a quarter mill and go way up from there! Not the price range for my little ride!

    Cheers,
    Mac
