Or maybe just been sneaking around a little bit. Sorry guys I've been quiet, but I truly have been very busy. I've tried to juggle work, riding my dirtbike, working on my truck, and now I'm starting my own business. I guess I'm busy but still should check in on my buddies. Well here's a few pics of where I'm at right now. My frame looks like it's done but I'm going to shorten it four inches so that it will match the 118in wheel base that I want. Other than that the motor and tranny are in place, the cab is sitting on the frame for measurement and fitting all parts. I've still got alot of mud work to do so that this wrinkly old metal won't wave at you going down the road. I've come to learn I don't like that part of body work. Block sanding is definately not for me. The pics show the fenders on the ground but when I put my wheels under it the fenders will be 2in off the ground if my measurements are right. I'll be able to raise it when going down the road with my air ride system. It's good to be back in here, hope you guys enjoy the pics. Oh yeah I thought I'd get a few pics of me behind the imaginary wheel. A guy can dream right???
Welcome Back, Indeed! Looking great, young man! I've missed you! Body work does bite the big one for sure! Way too labor intensive! Started a new business? Better be something in the automotive field! Thanks for sharing the pics! Tell Tab and your folks Hi. Post some pics of the '46 Dodge too while you're at it! Ken
Thanks Ken. Yeah dad and I finally are getting together and starting what we've wanted to do for a long time now. We're starting off small, well very small right now. We're starting a web based business for sheet metal patch panels for all sorts of cars and trucks from the thirties to the seventies. I'm going to run the web site from home after work of course, and dad is buying an enclosed trailor and we're going to go to the major car shows around here together and I'm going to take the trailor to the local cruise in's myself. The web site is not up and running yet but when it is I'll let you know. Not trying to take anything away from our web host classic parts, thats not the reason for mentioning the business. Hopefully when i get the hang of the business I'll try to expand and sell other parts other than just sheet metal. Mom and dad are doing good. Dad and I suicided his doors on his 40 ford truck, but he decided he didn't like it so he's going to change it back. And the 46 dodge well he had an offer he couldnt refuse and he sold it and the 41 chevy truck at the house. I almost kicked his but for selling the 41. I guess thats the way it goes sometimes. He also sold the mustang, which that was a good thing. That car is almost done now believe it or not. I also had an offer to buy my 32 chevy coupe back, so I think that ones coming back to me. I also came into a 35 chevy sedan four door. The car is really rough and has no doors. I'm gonna rat rod it, not the rusty ones but the painted flat ones with a flat head. I'm gonna make it into a two door delivery and do away with the two rear doors. But first things first. Gotta get the truck done. Hopefully next spring I'll be showing it, but I guess we'll see.
sheet metal Hi Kevin, I want to put power disk brakes on my AD but have not figured on the access/fill hole. The original is to small and I dont think I want a remote reservoir for the brake fluid. A battery box cover may make a nice item to sell. The top is made allready. You would only have to make the part it would cover. Good luck with the parts buisness. Willard Green
Kevin, So good to have you back. A friend of mine has a '35 Chevy four door sedan in his bone yard and it is also very rough. I was going to Rat Rod it but it is too far gone for me to tackle and would take too much time. He has doors and would sell them if you are interested. Andy
For the brake fluid hole, I take a piece of thick sheet metal, cut it out to fit just over the hole, then use either a piano hinge or recess it into the Dynamat, then cover it with a larger piece of dynamat to seal it up. Works pretty well.
