Sweet! Volker~ FANTASTIC job you did! 10 months??? That's awesome. I love the diamond pattern thing you have going on on the back side of the cab! How'd you do that? Anyway, now you can drive it all alround that beautiful countryside I see in the background!
Way to go, Volker! That is a beautiful truck!! Do you plan to put hubcaps on it? The original hubcaps for that truck are, in my opinion, the classiest hubcaps that Chevy ever made! I noticed that your keychain fob says Marshall. That's probably the biggest Chevy dealer in Texas. IIRC, you said you got the truck here in Texas, right? Looking forward to seeing your next project. You do quality work! Ken
diamond pattern Zig: What do you mean with diamond pattern thing?. The stripe around the Cab is painted in green, exactly british racing green and the rubber around the windows has a chromed strip. Ken: yes the truck comes from Brenham, Texas. It's 50mi away from you but i was faster to buy. The keychain fob was on the key but i bought the truck from privat. Probably was Marshall the service station for the truck. Could you say me, which hubcaps are original? I'm looking for hubcaps but don't know what's the original.
Volker, here's a link to a picture of the original hubcap for your truck. Chevy even used them on their passenger cars from '41-'48. http://www.chevsofthe40s.com/browse.lasso?&dept=Truck&cat=220T&skip=83 P.S. Don't order them from Chevsofthe40s for the price you see there. Jim Carter sells them for about $30 a piece.
You can see what I'm talking about if you look through the front windshield to the back of the cab. It's however you did the space on the back behind where your head would be. It is an awesome touch! Could you post a picture that focuses on that area? (Inside, around the back window.) Thanks!
pics inside Zig: Here are the pic's. i stuck both parts of roof together and stuck foam rubber on the roof (inside) and i had a one piece roof. After all dried i stuck the leather on it. The leather it's the same finish as a quilted jacket.
Also known as "diamond tufted" Diamond tufted interiors were all the rage in the 50's and 60's along with "rolled and pleated" upholstery. Looks really nice on your truck, Volker.
learning Thanks Ken i'm learning always news in english. In Germany we say "pipe pattern" to this. Diamond tufted i had never hear before and because i don't know how can i describe i explained it with the jacket.
Attention to details Volker - You have one nice job there to be proud of, and don't worry about your English, most of us couldn't come close to communicating in German!
found a place for my next vacation Ken: Your German is perfect. I think i will visit you in TX when i go to the US spring next year. Würde mich freuen
You are always welcome here! I would consider it an honor for you to be here next spring! Oktoberfest in spring! Pints of lager! Brats to die for! Come on over! We'll find another project for you! Love your truck! Ken
