I want to remove the lock on my dash pocket. I know there is an easy way to disassemble the lock. Can anyone out there help me?

Dont remember exactly where, but you stick the end of a paper clip into one of the slots and turn the knob.

    Lock

I tried to use the paper clip trick. There is a small hole on the outside. I couldn't get that to work. I only pushed it in but, I didn't try to turn it once I had the paper clip in. I will post a reply if I can get it to work out.
    Thanks for your help!!

    Dash Lock

    Thanks !!!!!!
I worked on the steering column today. After several tries a finally had it all back together and everything works.
The hardest part was running the new cruise pig tail. The first time it was wrapped around the headlight dimmer rod. There were a couple parts it took me a while to find where they went. A small spring fell out before I saw where it was located.
I had picked up the dash pocket and looked at it. I was wondering if I could figure out how to remove the lock.
When I checked the forum I saw where you left me the link to the info.
I will take a shot at it one night this week.I will follow the directions you sent.
I will take a few pictures as I remove the lock.

    Have a good week!

    Dash Lock

I was able to remove the lock. It wasn't that hard to do after I learned the trick to remove it. THANKS!!!!
The black part of the assembly was rotating so that the retaining nut was not tight. While I have it apart I will clean it all up and reassemble after the dash has been painted.I included a few pictures in 73-87 file.
