Just thought I would throw some pics out and let everyone see my project. Even thou it's going fairly slow. Powdercoated the frame a couple of weeks ago and just finished pc'ing the front suspension. I've started the rear suspension today. Have a look at the pics and tell me what you think. I posted them in the member galleries. Please forgive some of the pics (they were taken with a cell phone) Thanks Rick

    Rick!!!

    Awesome photos!!!

That looks like what mine will look like someday soon! What brake system did you go with up front? Are you using a firewall or under the floor MC? I didn't see if you were keeping the six, or dropping in an 8.
Looks like a clean job, and a GREAT space to work in!

Another AD brought back to life!

    Thanks for the update!

I got the front disc brake kit from cp and I got the powerbrake booster and mc from a dealer at a car show. I'm leaving it a 6 banger but I'm using one from a 63 model chevy truck, a 230. I've had a bunch of machine work done and comp cam. Competition Cams said that it should range between 350 and 380 hp. with all of the work I've had done. 3 deuce setup. It should be wicked. I should have it all together in the next couple of weeks.

    Holy Smokes!

Sounds like that'll be one TOUGH 6!

So, when do we get to see pictures of the 230 all dressed up?

BTW, what back end are you going with? Does your MC go under the floor or on the fire wall? Are you using your stock tranny or going auto? And finally, (for now...) what color will it be?

That really is a GREAT job you're doing. You are going to have one s-l-i-c-k ride when you're finished!

Let us know the final horse power figure if it's run on a dyno. One and one half horsepower per cubic inch is a very, very potent carbureted engine. Some of the six banger guys will be very interested in the combo used if it all turns out.

What wheels are those? They look a lot like what I put on my truck. American Racing TT2.

Whew, alot of questions there. Took the family on a little weekend trip to the zoo been away from the computer. Let's see if I can answer them all. Here we go. 79 camaro rear end with rear disc (aftermarket cpp) Auburn posi unit with 3:73 gears, Mc under the floor to get the firewall clean as possible, Using a 700r4 trans. The truck will be solid black with maybe medium tan leather (hopefully) if my wife don't catch on to how much it costs. I will have it dyno but probably not for a month or so. Not started putting everything together yet. The wheels are torque thrust 2's 17 inch. O.K. I think that's got it all. Whew. Thanks Rick

    Thanks, kg!

Thanks for updating us on what you have and the direction. All black with tan seats/panels... I've seen this look in Classic Trucks magazine before. IT IS SLICK!!!

(Brian, you know what I'm talking about!)

kg~ one thing I forgot to ask is, will your battery retain its stock location? If so, how are you going to do your floor covering? (As far as accessing your battery?)

It will stay in the same place but I'm using a drop down battery box that you will access from under the running board.
