drive shaft

    i am putting a 400 transmission in my 1966 c20 fleetside. i was wondering if i had to have a drive shaft made or if there was a car or truck i could get one from.

    You will probably have to have a driveshaft built.But measure how long it needs to be and check local salvage yards.You might find something that will work.If not having one built isn't a big deal.It will come with new u-joints and be balanced.

    The cheap way to go is get one from the junk yard. Take a good measurment and one piece of advice, measure your u-joint as well. I found one out of a monty that fit perfectly till I got it home and the u-joint was larger than my pinion. Spicer makes a bastard u-joint to remedy this problem but it cost me like $30 for one. If you can get one made if you are making serious power. That shaft lasted me about a year, and I twisted it when I finaly got my truck to hook up at the track.
