    Does anyone know what the difference is between these two axle shafts :confused:
    3683161 rear axle shaft fits 47-50 pu 17 splines OL 29 5/8.
    3694769 rear axle shaft fits 51-59 pu 17 splines OL 29 5/8.
    They both use the same wheel brgs,seal,deflectors,side gears,spacer block.horseshoe locks and wheel bolts.(6)

    Thanks

    Gene.

    I have absolutely no clue, but is it possible that it is because in '51, Chevy went to Bendix brakes?

    I will explain further

    I have a 1950 complete rear end with huck brakes.
    I have a 1952 banjo housing that I want to install using the 1950 internal parts. My goal is to install Bendix brakes.:D

    Bendix Brake Upgrade

    Gene ;

    I've not done this yet but I am told all you needs swap is the loaded backing plates and drums....

    Axles will remain the same as the 6 lug bolt pattern is the same...

    Keep us posted please .
