After finishing up the IRS at 1:30 on Friday, I hit the autocross course at Goodguys. I was dragging fenders and sliding sideways. This is my 4th run...best time was 42.4. The rear performed wonderfully, I highly reccommend it. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RaeeNhbWsuc
Absolutely the best video EVER!! That had to have been so much fun for you. Great job! I can't wait just to drive mine, but it will never be able to do that. Keep having fun.....Mike
Nice I'm surprised at how well she held the road, and not even a spark or scrape, for as low as your riding...well done and nice video.
Waa hoo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally someone who understands that DRIVING a Hot Rod is what it's supposed to be all about ! GOOD ON YA ! . I see you like to go fast as I do , my truck leans a goodly bit when I'm flogging in in the canyons , gotta get a Suburban swaybar someday , I am told they really help out stockers . BTW : the siren blaring at the end of the run was not calling the ambulance for Nate's heart attack ~ Now , I'll never say a bad word out this typ of custom again , I just hate average garage queens .
I don't need no stinkin lawn ornament! It was built to drive and that I intend to do. Actually, the first run I was dragging fenders all the way around. I ired it up a little and ran pretty well.
Too Cool ! Esp. as most of the guys on the H.A.M.B would rather DIE than actually drive thier rods... yes , I'm a member and know folks there personally . You're doing the right thing as Hod Rods were originally DRIVERS modified to go better & faster..... If I can't drive it anywhere I want , it's JUNK and will be sold ASAP .
Details on IRS? Hello, On another post of yours, you mention using a T-Bird IRS and you also mention writing something about that installation; I cannot find anything on this forum, have you written anything yet or is it hidden somewhere? I have a '57 Suburban under which I would like to fit an IRS, I am currently gathering info about this, so your story interests me! The only thing is I want an easy set-up, a kit... I am not into major fabrication. Thanks.
Actually, the fab work was minimal. I first boxed the rear of the frame, gthen centered up the carriage that the rear end rides on. I marked and cut the rear of the carriage to fit snug inside the boxed frame. I leveled the input shaft, checked the measurements again, then tacked the rear portion. Next, I cut 2x3 rectangle tubing to locate the front mounts. After checkng again, I welded solid all mounts. The 2x3 is welded to the inside frame rails. Next I cut boxing plates for the front frame section to fit around the 2x3 mounts. I made 2x2 spans to cover the gap over the upper control arms, which makes the whole thing stronger, and gives me mounts for the airbags. now plate and weld everything solid, air it up and go do a nasty burnout. Look under new rearend for the thread with pictures.
beautiful work man thats what im talking about a real hot rod threw and threw but i have a question why are you on the right side of the cab in the still pics
