Wow, thanks to all the help I've gotten from you foiks, my '63 should be on the road by the New Year.

    WOOOHOOOOOOOO!

    question...

I purchased a rebuilt 230. What color should the engine be painted?

The parts I have from my old engine, valve cover, oil pan, push rod covers, etc are blue....what was the original engine color?

It is supposed to be blue. The more popular orange color was later on and in the 80's went to black. Black is a better color because it dissipates heat better than other colors. I've even seen white painted the underside of an intake becuase it reflects heat allowing the incoming air to be cooler.

Basically paint it what ever color you like.
