Unhook your battery cables and remove the nuts holding the cables under the dash. Use a 9/16 wrench. Also unhook at the carb.:)

Let 'em soak a few days & loosen up or just chop 'em off and buy new cables , they're cheap .

have the new ones on hand before destroying the originals ! .

thanx . with a different engine i was not going to reuse the throttle but the choke may eventually be hooked back up. not enough room under dash to get mad and start throwing tools but i could use colorful language !!!!!! BTW do use hold the knob or shaft when loosening the back nut ?

put tape around the bezel on the dash so you don't scratch the paint, then grip it with a pair ov vise grips or adjustable long handle pliers. I find that the properly placed colorful language tends to scare the parts into submission.
