I have the same question for a '65. I'll be following your forum to look for answers too.

I’m not sure from your post what your requirements really are. For example what transmission, do you have to have the shifter on the column? But I can give you an idea of my experience and you can take it for what’s it worth to your situation.
I have a 64 PU and installed a 700R4 (four speed overdrive) automatic. I had a 3-speed column shifter for the stock 3-speed manual. I wanted a tilt wheel in addition to an automatic so this is the route I took.
I decided to keep it simple and bought an IDIDIT tilt column, a 14 inch Grant steering wheel steering, Grant Security Hub ( it allows me to remove the steering wheel with a key and replace it with a cap), a B&M shifter with linkage. I also upgraded to power steering. After cutting the steering column shaft (to account for the larger power steering box) I welded a Borgeson coupler to the shorted shaft and the input to the IDIDIT steering column shaft. The column is made for that vintage truck so installation was quite straightforward. The shift linkage was even simpler. The shift kit bolts to the floor and a cable is routed from the shift linkage to the linkage on the transmission. The cable and all brackets are supplied with the kit. (I bought mine from SUMMIT RACING). By the way, this kit comes with a lighted shift indicator and a lockout switch for safety. If you want the column shifter you can also get that version from IDIDIT and they can give you the specifics for the installation.
If you want more details call up my web page, there is a lot of detail on this installation and others you may be interested in. Hope this helps.

Sorry I was so late to the dance. I installed a rebuilt tilt column from a 70-72 Chevy truck. Column shift Automatic.
The column was a bolt in. I ordered Borgesen vibration damper, and U joint type coupler to replace rag joint and a double -D shaft. The column hooks up to a 605 power steering box.
The column and all steering hookup took a few hours. The hookup of the column harness is another story. I used the rebuilt columns harness and connector AND the old harness and connector from the 64 and cross wired it. You will need the color code from the column you are installing and the 63 column to match things up. Mine took an afternoon of trial and error but all works well now. I even wired in a flasher relay and have 4-ways now. The trans linkage is Lokar, period.
