    I was looking at my stock intake on my '57 235 and the carby insulator is hanging over the end of the manifold...should it be like that? It hangs over 1/4" or so towards the engine block.

    passenger car blue

    Previous owner had it painted blue and when I had it rebuilt it got painted again before I knew any better ( crummy job )...sure would look good with the truck dark gray paint. Maybe someday.

    Well ;

    I sure wish I knew where old Grant McBride went off to , he was the very best used car engine painter I ever had , bar none ~ he'd get some cardboard out of the trash bin and go to work , when finished the engines looked great & the junkers , er, RESALE vehicles (yeah , thats it) sold well .

    I took off some of the engine acessories on my truck's 235 and cleaned it well , then wire brushed off most of the old peeling blue paint , got some cardboard and a $10.00 can of the correct shade of grey paint in a Foo-Foo can then re-sprayed it in situ , added a nice decal on the rockerbox (not the correct one , the one I liked better :p ) .

    It looked really nice for several years and 35,000 miles , now it's all peeling again doggone it , I musta used the wrong typ of engine de-greaser once or twice .
