Hello! I haven't been on in a while. I really need some advice on how to remove the old chev emblem off of the hood. There seems to be no way to get this thing off!!! I would really like to replace it with the new one I got from Classic Parts back when it was still CD! I just have not got around to this! It is really hard to reach and there is no way to see what you're doing! Please help me. I am seriousily mechanicly challenged but have a lot of desire and aspire to do more mechanicly! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Thanks, Keith

    You're not alone~

Keith, thanks for breaking the silence on this problem. It is common among Chevy truck owners. It usually starts after they get there GMC emblem from our host.

I, for one, understand the desire to put a GMC emblem on the front. You will have two holes on the outer sides of the G and C, but if a be-dazzeler could be found, you can put chrome stars in those. Hope this helps!:D

    ...or...

I imagine you'll have to start with a mirror, some penetrating oil, a band-aid or two, and make sure small children are back about 100 feet.

You may even have to remove the upper hood latch plate?

    At any rate, GOOD LUCK!

    What Zig said

The upper hood latch plate on my hood was torched by DPO. Had to replace it. So, when I had the old, torched one off, I noticed it was a LOT easier to even SEE the monuting points for the hood emblem and did the install at that time. However, the upper hood latch plate can be a real bear to remove. They've usually been in place since new and have some special fasteners that like to rust SOLID in place. Good luck.

Contortionist positions, box end wrench, lots of swearing. The nuts on the origional will probably ring off...now you have a cool wall ornament.

Aw shucks. Thanks for the honesty guys! I was hoping against the rust & the devil that their would be an easier way to replace the emblem! It is good to know that I am not the only one up against this problem! You would think that with this many lemons that someone would have figured out how to make lemonade out of this situation by now!!!! I am always looking at the latest gadgets on the infomercials and saying to myself , "Why didn't I think of that!" I guess this my chance to put-up or shut-up! Merry Christmas Everybody & a Happy New Year too!
