Wishing everyone all the best for the new year! 08 ended on a good note for me yesterday. I know there have been several posts on Tranny installation but by golly---I don't cuss much---but it just about got me there yesterday. Anyway it's in. It really is a two person job. I was too stuborn to stop and get some help. No bust knuckles, just frustration. 09 will be filled with body work (Ha! that's a good one too ) Still have a couple days of work to do on the motor and drive shafts. Rick
That's beautiful! Way to go, Rick! I know what you mean about not asking for help! (Except advice from these guys!) That looks like we are at similar settings in our rebuilding efforts. Keep the pictures coming!
Nice work ! Please remember to always work safely ! IIRC it was xxxxx who didn't listen and had a serious handy injury from a wayward Muncie SM420 tranny , they're BIG heavy mothers with a penchant for rolling off the trolly jack at the worst possible time.... I did my first one @ 14 YO and it tried to kill me coming out of a 4X4 , being a farm kid I knew enough to realize I wasn't going to stop it and I scuttled out of they way just in time ! . That 235 is looking mighty good , unless you're building a show truck , look at all the various rockerbox decals and choose the one you like best rather than the correct one ........... More pictures , we LOVE pictures ! .
Hey Rick Thank you for the great pictures and sharing the story with us. Could not figure out what model tranny it is you have installed, but it looks great. It would be intresting for me to know as i am yust to find out about wich alternative would fit the 235 engine best together with 3.55 rear end solution ? The Saginaw 3.11, the Munchie M20 wide ratio or the Borg Warner. A happy newyear wishes from Martinius.
Rick, Really glad to see your 3800 coming back together. If you need any measurements let me know and I'll see if I can get them for you. If you rear end is a 415/1 a 410/1 pumpkin will slip right into your rearend housing you will like the difference. Keep up the great work on it.
