Hi guys, I bought a '66 c10 last week. I don't know what engine is in the truck. I know it's the inline 6, but don't know what year or displacement. Looks like someone put a newer style distributor on it. The engine runs and I want to do a tune up on it, but I don't know what to tell the parts guys at O'Reillys, which wires, plugs ,cap and so I need. The next thing I was wondering is, who makes the one piece door glas conversion? I saw pic of a truck that had a one piece side window. Thanks Frank
It is either a 230 or a 250. As far as the dist. it is a later model HEI. You can ask for plugs/wires/cap/rotor for, let's say, a 78 or 79 GM truck with a 250 and that should be what you need. If you want to determine exactly what year your engine is, go to www.mortec.com You should be able to look up the numbers that are on the side of the block to find out what it is.
Who makes one piece door glass kits ? Nobody.. If you saw it on another truck, it was a custom made job. The big problem is the door check that needs to be moved to inside the door jam. There is no room inside the door to run the glass channel without fabricating the door check to work the opposite way it does now. Val
That's weird, because I have seen 2 trucks with the one piece side window. One is in the new Custom Classic Trucks issue and the other one I saw on the web, a black 66 with a blown smallblock and some big rims and low profile tires. That's why i thought someone makes a kit for the one piece window.
Yea, Strange but true... I'm sure it has to do with the need to fabricate the door check. Hook Um Horns !! Val
I'll look into the one piece door glass later on. I'm doing a lot of things to the truck. As far as the doors go, I'm going to make them suicide and shave the handles. The one piece glass would look good with that. hook em horns
