After starting, my vehicle will die and will not restart. I had to replace the ignition resistor last year for a similar problem (same problem but would die after driving over a rough spot like a RR track) It now dies on smooth ground and it seems to be occuring closer the original start. First time I drove about 4 miles before stopping. Next was about 2 miles, then 1000 feet and yesterday was before I could get it into 3rd grear. I can shake the wires on the IR and it will normally start but I may have to try 2-3 times. It may be letting it set and not shaking the wires that allows the start.

    The truck is a 1951 chevrolet 3100 truck and has a 230 or a 280 engine and a 12 volt system.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

I changed the resister again and it corrected the problem.
