I bought a new back bumper with brackets from our sponser and wonder if I put the on rite. The outside corners are abont 1" from the bumper. This way allows the tag to be seen but the corner of the bumper has to be put in a bind to draw up to the outsides of the bracket
Repop Bumpers Take a look , the curvature of the rear bumper is different than that of the front one . Also , the repop bumpers are flatter in the amount of frontal curvature so they don't fit bumperettes correctly . Re-pop bumperttes are correctly made to they'll fit original bumpers perfectly but not the re-pop ones , there will be a gap . You're best off either having your old spring steel bumper re-chromed or buying one of the stainless steel re-pop bumpers as they're prefect copies .
Rear bumper pick I'm traveling, but just realized I had this on my computer. This picture should help.
Yes, the first thing is to make sure the bumpers are correct--front on front and rear on rear. If correct here is what we do with the brackets to fit them to the incorrect bumpers. Wrap a wet towel around the end of the bumper but leave the bracket nut exposed and then heat the bracket arm to YELLOW hot. Quickly tighten the nut on the bumper to bracket bolt and let cool. With a two or three inch section of the arm this hot it will exactly form to the bumper and yet move so easily that it doesn't pull on the bumper or flake chrome do to stress on the bolt. It is a crap shoot as to which arms will need tweaking but as long as the bumper is held in the position you want it to end up in all will be well.
Nate: You need to upgrade your use of y'all. Here are the rules: y'all is singular all y'all is plural (which is what you SHOULD have said) all y'all's is plural possessive all y'all's yawls are sailboats all y'all's yawl shawls are wraps that ladies wear to keep warm on sailboats
Sorry Bill I'm just an old Yankee farmboy living in the SouthWest now , I'm never going to get all those intracacies . besides , where I live in So. Central LA , folks (even the TEXANS) don't cut it that close Cut me a little bit of slack please
You can have all the slack you wan't Nate. I've been saving that explanation of the proper use of "y'all" for years, and you just happend to be the first target of opportunity. Glad to hear you are back at work, even though it is hurting you. As much as modern tought seems to be against it, I have a feeling you and I are among the group that believes "you are what you do". I work with a bunch of 30-somethings that design, test and debug new computer hardware. I look forward to going to work each morning and thrive on the pressure that my co-workers put on the "old guy". They even refer to me as "Waldorf", in reference to the Muppet from the balcony. What is left of my hair is white. I'm 62, fat, out of shape and gripe a lot, but I'm at least two steps ahead of most of them. Hope to hear you're back on the moto soon.
Thanx ! As I have NO IDEA what : " all y'all's is plural possessive " means...... The young 'uns @ my work get pissed off when I eyeball a job they're kvetching about and say " that's simple , get to it " , they'll be crying the blues about changing a speedo cable on a two year old , clean as new pickup or other difficult job.... KIDS ! whatt're ya gonna do ? .
Obtw : Bill Wrote : I have a feeling you and I are among the group that believes "you are what you do". Yes ~ I firmly believe a Man is defined by what he does . in my case , by his work .
An example of plural possessive would be in referring to a bunch of old trucks that belong to members of this forum as ... "All y'all's trucks are ADs".
Nice work Mr. Hanlon and Evan One of you precisely explains how to fix the bumper, the other precisely explains to our most expert friend Nate how to use Texican American English (if you can beleive there is such a thing). Excellent work Evan and Bill. I will save both peices of advice for future use. For Ziggy, I have to make sure that he understands that when he does come fishing in Texas, that Y'all is not a "pearl". But that a "Pearl" is a beer. Harder to find than it used to be, but a beer none the less. Enjoy. Jim
Well, in East Tennessee we know one thing for sure. A northern girl says "you can". A southern girl says y'all can". Ride in her AD that is. Gater
ZZzzzzzzzzzzzCRUNCH ! That's the sound of my head spinning 'round then snapping again I think I'll go file some old ignition points , at least then I know what the heck is going on ! Be glad I rarely speak ' Yankee '
