    Hello:

I am currently re-building my 65 chevy engine and would like to know what the original colors were for the block, valve cover, side covers and oil pan. as har as I can tell the valve cover was originally green as well as the side covers, but the block is so gumed up I could not tell the original color, plus I dunno if this whing has been painted before?

    Thanks for any help

I don't have the information handy right now to say for sure, BUT, I "think" the block was the same shade of green.

    Anyone ?

I think it was green. I bought a GM green from OEM paints to match my 250 for 66. The 66 year was the first for a 250 in a pickup and it was definitely that color and I believe they just used the same shade they had been using on the 292's. You will find the readily available Detroit Diesel Green in auto parts stores and it is a very close match!
