I purchased an ignition switch from classic parts. I switched my starter to a key start instead of a foot starter. The motor will turn over but not start until the key returns to the run position. I do not have a solenoid on the truck, Do I need one? If so what solenoid do I need and how do you wire it? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Dennis
Make shure that the coil wire is in the right terminal on the switch. It sounds like it is not recieving power in the crank position. I don't run a solenoid. All the solenoid is is a big relay.
Dennis The solenoid is the cylindrical thing on top of the starter . Use a test light to discern which ig. switch terminal has current on both " run " and " start " positions . DO NOT throw out the pedal starter and it's linkages ! folks here want it (I certainly do) .
Problem solved, All I needed to do was run a wire from the solenoid to the coil. Truck starts best ever. I still have the starter and linkage from the foot starter days. Make an offer for all.
Pedal Starter & Linkage YOU have to begin by telling us : 6 or 12 volts ? . I hope you kept all those tiny little pieces on the right end link like the tiny spring and egg shaped spring holder... It'll all cost more to ship than I can offer but I know guys here usualy want to go back to the pedal starter as it's much more posative in action and lasts longer too....
