I got a 1954 chevy truck and i'm looking to put some wire wheels on it. It's a six lug and the wirez are five im looking for a place that sell adapters for it.
Bernzeee~ WELCOME! You have questions, these guys have answers! Beside the address that Russ gave you, there is also the 5 lug disc brake conversion. This will require doing the same to the back end, of course...
http://www.classicparts.com/ http://www.americanclassic.com/ http://www.lmctruck.com/ http://www.chevsofthe40s.com/ http://www.oldchevytrucks.biz/47_55/t1.asp These are a few of the sites that I have used as reference. Im sure there are many many more!!! Welcome, you will find a lot of good information here, and plus people are actually willing to help, which is great!!! Heck they even put up with us that own GMC's!!!!! Even though they are jealous of that long motor!!! Anyway great site. lots of great people here!!!
It's whatever you Chevy guys have to do to make you feel better about things. The good news is, there aren't as many Gs on the road so you're not constantly reminded of the mighty G you could have been driving!
Not Jealous ! I'm envious of those full pressure high nickle content , l o n g GMC motors... Got it ? .
My grandpa just before i bought the truck asked me if it was a GMC and I told him yes, and he was excited!!! and he went on to educate me on the GMC and Chevy differences of that time. I enjoy having something a lil more rare, but had i come across a great deal with a chevy i would have bought that one... and gave it to my dad, then saved up for my G!!!!! I want to keep that motor/trans combo in the truck so it should run for a while
My 2 cents Welcome Bernzeee, as much as i want to wade in puking acid comments about the dreaded 'G's......I wont, as for your question about wire wheels? I would be a little cautious, these ol trucks are a little heavy and would be putting some serious loads on those spokes, especially the side loads when cornering! Tread carefully (pun intended)
