engine help

    Hello all.

    After driving my 65 c-20 with the 292 for long distances it will disel when I shut it off. by disel I mean it tries to continue running. After it dose that it makes a loud wooshing noise.
    I checked the timeing and it is perfect.
    Can anyone tell me why it is doing this?

    It maybe low octane fuel, Bad gas. Good luck, Mike!

    Hello Mikef the most common reason for a car or truck to deisel is that the throttle plate in the carb is not closed enough when it is shut off. Try making sure that the idle speed is proper. That eng didnt idle at more than 550 in drive with an automatic, and about 575 as a manuel shift. Hope this helps.
