I'm getting my 4 speed tranny all cleaned up and painted, and was wondering if there is suppose to be some kind of rubber boot that goes over the shift lever, to keep dirt from getting into the shifting ball on the tower?
I don't see one advertised. Thanks for any answers.

If the 4 speed is the SM420 then NO boot goes over the shifter tower. Only the boot that seals the shifter arm in the interior is needed.

    Shifter Seal

Dave, Thanks for your reply. Think I got it figured out that the foam seal between the tranny and bottom of the floor keeps the dirt out from outside, and the boot inside the cab takes care of contamination from inside the cab.
    Thanks!
